How to get started with WebCat server?
Hardware Setup

Your PC should already be connected to your Ethernet hub.
The included Ethernet cable cannot be used to connect the WebCat board directly to the PC.
For that, you must use an Ethernet cable designed for hub-to-hub communications, commonly referred to as an X cable.

Note. You can use a BiPOM Electronics Ethernet cross cable (Part#: ECC-1) to connect WebCat directly to a PC's network card.

  1. Connect one end of Ethernet cable to Ethernet port of WebCat (J6).
  2. Connect other end of Ethernet cable to the hub.
  3. Connect one end of serial cable to an available serial (COM) port on your PC.
  4. Connect the other end of serial cable to WebCat serial (COM) port (J2).
  5. Connect the 6VDC Adapter to the WebCat power connector (J5).

Software Setup

Please install WebCat release from BiPOM site.

Site Setup

Please see instructions on this page: Publishing Project.

Browsing the site

Please type

http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/
in your favorite WEB browser.
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - This is IP address what you assigned to WebCat/WebCatPlus board.

Firmware Setup

WebCat web server firmware is preinstalled at the factory on your WebCat so there is no need to do anything for firmware setup. If you wish the upgrade the firmware, please follow these instructions.

  1. Run WebCat Publisher.(Start->All Programs->WebCatPlus Publisher->WebCatPlus Publisher).
  2. Select appropriate COM port to download.
  3. Select appropriate board type in the "Board" combobox on the toolbar.
  4. Select appropriate drive type in the "Drive" combobox on the toolbar.

Go to "Tools" menu and click "Firmware Upgrade" command.
You will see "Progress" window. Wait when process will be finished.
When new firmware will be downloaded you can use Publisher to publish your projects.
