Your PC should already be connected to your Ethernet hub.
The included Ethernet cable cannot be used to connect the WebCat board directly to the PC.
For that, you must use an Ethernet cable designed for hub-to-hub communications, commonly referred to as an X cable.
Note. You can use a BiPOM Electronics Ethernet cross cable (Part#: ECC-1) to connect WebCat directly to a PC's network card.
- Connect one end of Ethernet cable to Ethernet port of WebCat (J6).
- Connect other end of Ethernet cable to the hub.
- Connect one end of serial cable to an available serial (COM) port on your PC.
- Connect the other end of serial cable to WebCat serial (COM) port (J2).
- Connect the 6VDC Adapter to the WebCat power connector (J5).
Please install WebCat release from BiPOM site.
- Open C:\bipom\devtools\WebCat\Examples\demo in WebCat Publisher.
- Select 512K file disk image.
- Click "Web Server Configuration" toolbar button and assign any desired IP to WebCat. For example, 192.168.0.100.
- Click "Create" toolbar button to create disk image. After it is created, a message box will appear asking if you want to upload the image to the board. Answer Yes.
Please type
http://192.168.0.100/
in your favorite WEB browser.
WebCat web server firmware is preinstalled at the factory on your WebCat so there is no need to do anything for firmware setup. If you wish the upgrade the firmware, please follow these instructions.
- Run WebCat Publisher.(Start->AllPrograms->WebCat->WebCat Publisher).
- Select appropriate COM port to download.
- Select appropriate firmware type in the "Firmware" combobox on the toolbar.
- Click "Update Hardware" button.
