General Description
These breakout boards bring all 9 pins of a DB9 connector out to screw terminal blocks for easy connection and prototyping work. They are available with both male and female connectors. The BRK9M has a male connector and the BRK9F has a female connector. Each pin is also brought to solder pads (4 per pin) at 0.1' spacing, allowing easy addition of standard pin headers or other small components.
These break out boards are perfect for experimentation and prototype work, as well as for use in the educational laboratory. They are well-suited for work with RS-232 serial ports, I/O cards, and any other device that uses a DB-9 connector. A breakout board is sometimes referred to as a 'transition module', 'terminal board', or 'interface module'.
For mounting on a panel, we suggest the rubber feet version (-FT), 1/4' nylon standoffs under the mounting holes, and #6 screws.
Technically, the correct term for a DB9 connector is DE9, but that term is not commonly used.

These breakout boards are available with either a Right Angle connector or a Straight ('Vertical') connector. The terms Right Angle and Straight refer to the connector itself, NOT the relationship of the mating cable to the PCB. In fact, the cable mating to a Right Angle connector is parallel to the PCB, while the cable mating to a Straight connector is perpendicular to the PCB. These are pictured below: Connector Style

Mounting Options
These products are available in two different mounting variants. Product numbers ending with -DIN come with DIN clips already installed and ready to snap onto 35mm or 32mm DIN rail. Product numbers ending with -FT have stick-on rubber feet installed on the bottom side, allowing for benchtop use or panel mounting. For panel mounting, we suggest 1/4" nylon standoffs under the mounting holes, and #6 screws.
